Why go dark at 10 PM?
Hong Kong's M+ turns its building skin into an exhibition surface. LEDs sit inside ceramic louvres; the facade is not a projection onto a blank wall.
M+ reports that it can be seen from around 1.5 km away. The roof garden offers another viewing position. What interests me is how art can enter a walk or a journey beyond the gallery entrance. That is an editorial reading of public viewing space, not proof of increased attendance.
There is also a boundary: M+ says it switches the facade off after 10 PM to limit light nuisance and energy waste.
Tourism, visitor and sales uplift are not verified in this review. A visible landmark and a measured economic impact are different things.
City Lights 001 / M+ Hong Kong Six different original photographs. Archive views, not current-program footage or proof of the switch-off time.
